This project involved incorporating the Gestalt principles into 5 compositions.

Problem to solve:

• Apply each of the Gestalt principles to create a black-and-white square design.
• 5 designs total

What you use:

• black squares
• optional: white squares

What you can change:

• Position
• Size
• Rotate
• Swap black and white colors
• Overlap
• Crop

What to use:

• Adobe Illustrator.

Download and open the work file in Illustrator.

Pick one Gestalt principle and start experimenting with designs.

Use Rectangle tool to draw squares.

Hold SHIFT key while drawing to make a perfect square,

Choose "no stroke" option.

Choose "black" fill color.

Use Selection tool to select, move, resize, and rotate squares

step 4

Option (Alt) drag to duplicate shapes or groups of shapes.

Save all five designs as .JPG images :

File > Save for Web

Choose .JPG format.
